9" Chef – Maker's Mark: Raffir "Frost Ridge"
The performance is already familiar. Maker's Mark: Raffir "Frost Ridge" gives the 9" Chef a quieter expression, where dark tones and pale veining reveal themselves a little at a time.

Description
Long before New West KnifeWorks was known for the finest blades in the world, founder Corey Milligan was showing knives in juried fine art shows—judged as art first, tools second. Maker's Mark is a return to that instinct: a space where our individual knife makers set aside production to experiment with new materials, new color, and new ideas. It's an ongoing, monthly-rotating series, and each knife carries that spirit forward.
Raffir "Frost Ridge" rests in a deep charcoal field, crossed by fine pale veining that drifts across the handle like frost spreading over a window before dawn. The lines appear and disappear as the light shifts, giving the surface a quiet sense of depth without overwhelming the form. It is restrained, subtle, and meant to be noticed slowly.
Beneath the color and grain, this is still the knife it has always been. The blade is CPM S35VN particle metallurgy steel — the same super steel U.S. Special Forces trust for their field knives — ground and hand-finished at our factory in Victor, Idaho, in the shadow of the Teton Range. Hand-sharpened before it ever leaves our shop, because that's the one step no machine has ever matched.
This is not a display piece. It is a working knife built from materials that happen to be beautiful — the New West KnifeWorks definition of functional art. Use it every day. Pass it down.
One knife. One handle. "Frost Ridge" is one of one.

Use & Care
Use & Care
- Hand wash with warm soapy water and hand dry for maximum edge retention and stain resistance. For safety and edge protection, store dry knives in their leather sheath, in a wood block, or on a magnet designed to hold knives. For a full tune-up: free lifetime sharpening.
- Do not put in the dishwasher - this will dull the knife.
- For edge retention, cut only on wood or softer plastic cutting boards.
- As needed, apply a light coat of mineral oil to the handle with a soft cloth to enhance vibrance.
