A 1095 hardened steel edge, forge-welded into a mild-steel poll — the same joining trick behind Damascus — then drawn thin under the power hammer, the eye drifted under the press, and the whole head ground, heat-treated, and sharpened entirely by hand. Hung on an Appalachian hickory handle. Blade: 4". Head Length: 5.5".

Built for throwing, splitting kindling, and general camp chores — this is a tool first, a target sport second. There's no casting here and no automated fixtures doing the work: every head starts as a bar of mild steel and a bar of 1095, bent, forge-welded, drawn out under the hammer, and shaped one at a time, by hand, in Victor, Idaho.

We've made tomahawks before. For years we sold a cast version in S7 tool steel — tough stuff, but casting has a ceiling, and it never quite held up to the original hand-forged hawks we started with. Eventually we stopped selling it. This one is the return to doing it the hard way, on purpose, because the hard way is the one that actually works.

Use & Care
  • Hand wash with warm soapy water and hand dry for maximum edge retention and stain resistance. For safety and edge protection, store dry tomahawks in their leather sheath. For a full tune-up: free lifetime sharpening.  
  • As needed, apply a light coat of mineral oil to the blade and handle with a soft cloth to prevent rust and enhance vibrance.
