Don't hone - sharpen your knives with a ceramic hone!

In 20 years of knife making,, New West KnifeWorks has seen, heard, and tried almost every way possible to sharpen our knives. Sharpening rods should be your first line of defense against edge deterioration. Depending on the grade and grit of your sharpening rod one can easily resurrect your edges on tools and knives. That is why we highly suggest a coarse and a fine ceramic honing rod combo.  THIS IS NOT THE METAL HONING ROD THAT WILL HELP KEEP A SHARP KNIFE SHARP.  THIS IS A KNIFE SHARPENER THAT WILL GRIND AWAY METAL AND RE-SHARPEN YOUR KNIFE.

Coarse Grit Sharpening Rod:
This is the ideal tool to begin resharpening a totally dull edge.  The super hard course grit material quickly removes steel from the edge to reform a bevel.  You should use a fine grit ceramic or ruby steel to put the final shaving sharp edge on your knife.  A course and fine grit combination of steels is the perfect one two punch to quickly restore a totally dull knife back to a shaving sharp.
