This is a great small cutting board for little jobs and also makes a great server for cheese and appetizers. The board is made from FSC certified sustainably harvested teak. Teak is renowned for it's beauty and stability. For centuries, it has been the premium wood for construction of fine wooden boats due to it's beauty, durability and resistance to the effects of moisture. This makes it also the ultimate wood material for cutting board construction. This board is superior in construction to typical cutting boards. The two piece construction featuring bread board ends makes it far more durable than cutting boards made with 1.5" wide strips of wood. The classic bread board end and super stable teak wood ensure that this thin board will never warp and always stay flat.
In our continuing efforts to build a sustainable green business, New West Knifeworks has partnered with a company who's primary business is sustainable forestry on Costa Rica. Over 20 years ago, our partners began buying up degraded cattle ranches that had slashed and burned primary rain forest to provide grazing for cattle. The land has been reclaimed and replanted to restore it to it's natural state. Tropical hardwoods are selectively harvested to maintain forest health and sustain the business.
